Did you know e-mail was “obsolete?”
Posted by admin on February 28, 2008 in Marketing
Last night I was reading an article in a very prominent marketing magazine and the author began the article by stating, “Now that e-mail is basically an obsolete technology…”
Look, I knew e-mail is in big trouble and that as a marketing tool, it went from being the best to being the worst on the list in the space of about 3 short years.
I’m just not sure I’d call it an “obsolete” technology.
Just the same, I also realize that neither you or I can control what happens with e-mail in the coming months and years. What we can control is what we do in the mean time to keep our businesses moving forward and growing.
I find less and less time to moan and complain these days and more and more of my time is used to find solutions to the challenges that show up. And in the case of e-mail, I have to say that I feel very lucky.
You see, I began my marketing career in direct marketing long before there was a thing called the Internet. So now that our electronic version of direct marketing is broken, it’s not that hard for me to go back to my marketing roots and get back into the mail with my marketing messages.
This is not the case with most of my clients who have only been using the online world and have no idea how to market with the mail.
Yet, the truth about this is that direct mail is the way to go right now if you want to keep getting great results and keep your business growing.
(Have a look at http://www.UltimateWealth.com/dms.htm)
You could begin with simple postcards, as many of my clients are now doing - and with great results too! This is the way most of my clients have chosen to get into direct mail marketing.
It’s also the cheapest, fastest way to start getting results and more traffic to your web site within days.
I too use postcards, I send out sales letters, and newsletters - all through the mail, and I can tell you it really does work great.
Here’s what I do:
1) I write a simple headline and a call to action.
2) I hire my graphic artist brother to make my words look great on the face of my postcard.
(See samples at http://www.GraphicallyRich.com/postcards.htm)
3) I print out my list on pressure-sensitive (sticky back) labels or I’ll rent a list of prospects from Russ von Hoelscher (Call his office at 619-588-2155)
4) I apply labels and postage and drop the cards in the mail.
Within 2 days, I start to see more targeted traffic on my web site, and also more sales.
The sales I make more than offset the additional costs of using direct mail instead of e-mail.
To give you an idea of what that your results might look like, consider these results from my recent mailings and from those some of my clients have done as well:
- 2,000 postcards mailed, 52 orders within 2 weeks
- 5,000 postcards mailed, 946 new subscribers to a newsletter
- 500 postcards mailed, 11 new orders within a week
And these results are typical of what you can expect when you follow the steps I set out for you in my program, Direct Mail Marketing Secrets.
We’ve now sold out on this program twice since it’s launch a few weeks ago, and I’ve just gotten notice that our next order is in and ready to be shipped today.
Claim your copy of this program (less than $20) and find out how to get into direct mail without losing your shirt.

I promise you, this is a wise investment and one you’ll be happy to have made as you go forward to in building your business.
Be outstanding!
