A Thank You Message for You
I’d like to share a fun little story with you today that I think is very relevant today, and not just because it’s my birthday, but because of what is happening today because it’s my birthday. Confused?
Let me explain.
Back in 1996, when I first started to send group e-mail messages, mostly to friends and family, one thing that I often did was create a message that was much more personal in nature than the vast majority of the messages you see being sent today by most people.
For instance, I’d send a note out to let people know what I was planning to do for Thanksgiving weekend, and I’d wish them the best for their holiday weekend as well. This was really neat because it always resulted in a lot of well wishes in both directions.
I’d send out my note, and within hours, my inbox would be filled with similar, very personal notes as well. And there is no greater feeling
than to know somebody is thinking about you.
By the year 2001, that was largely a thing of the past. Most of the messages being sent out were commercial in nature, and few, if any, had even a scant mention of upcoming holidays, birthdays, etc.
Fast-forward to today. I opened up my e-mail this morning and it was filled with well-wishes from so many people! How did they all know today was the day I turn 45? It’s in my Facebook profile!
And there are many applications that will automatically remind you of a friend’s birthday and offer you the option to send an e-card to their Facebook page.
If you’re still wondering if Facebook is worthwhile, let me tell you what it’s like being on the receiving end of so many of these birthday wishes!
It’s truly amazing. Honestly, I just want to find something nice to do for everybody who posted a note on my Facebook wall!
We’ve finally gotten back to a point where true personal interaction is again possible on the Internet.
This is something to celebrate! This is something you should be doing for your friends. And it’s something that will knock your socks off when it’s your special day too.
So to all my friends who took the time to post something on my Facebook page, THANK YOU!
Yes, I do read EVERYTHING that gets posted there and I Also do look at every ones profile on Facebook too!
After all, isn’t this all about building relationships? And isn’t building solid relationships the foundation of every successful business?
You know the answers to those questions… so go ahead, get onto to Facebook and start connecting with people. What will come out of your
efforts is sure to amaze you.
By the way, I’m not the only one who feels this way. Every one of the people who bought my new program, The Facebook Factor has begun to see the light and has started putting in the effort to build their
networks and create lasting relationships. And these people will be the ones to succeed regardless of how bad things get out there.
OK, I’m stepping down off my soapbox and going to get a massage then out to a fabulous dinner to celebrate #45!
Be outstanding!
