This is something I’ve been looking into for quite some time, and I’m happy to report that there are indeed people making millions using social media!

They usually start from zero. In other words, no web site, no products, no clients. What they have is a simple (it’s always simple) idea that they begin to share with others.

If the idea is fun, entertaining, and worth sharing, their social network begins to grow and soon builds its own momentum.

When this happens, anybody can find a number of ways to make money from their social network.

Well, for many business owners, this is a question they will either answer correctly, or they will be out of business shortly.

As you’ve been seeing, our world is changing fast. What once were “killer” approaches to marketing simply no longer work.

In fact it’s gotten to the point where I now know that any marketing strategy older than 12 months is likely no longer valid!

What happened is easy to understand. E-mail was the de facto marketing channel on the Internet since about 1995. But since 2003, the reliability of the e-mail channel has continued to plummet due to both excessive spam and over-zealous anti-spam technologies.

E-mail may no longer be the marketing channel of choice, but the world at large has NOT stopped marketing! So what did they do? Where did they go? How are they now reaching their clients?

Right now, the answer is somewhat unclear to many, but becoming clearer and clearer to those of us who rely on the Internet to make our living.

The winning technology today as I write this is by a far, Facebook.

This one web site allows you to do the two main things you need to be able to do on the web; 1- build a list, and 2- send notices to that list.

What you may not yet know is that this one web site allows you to do all of this, and they don’t charge you for any of it!

Take that in context for a moment. In the past, you’d need to have an auto-responder account to be able to build a list and send a marketing message to your list.

And to build your list, you’d have to spend big bucks on pay-per-click traffic, or twist people’s arms to get them to do a joint-venture with you.

With Facebook, you pay nobody. You build your list by clicking a button that says “Add as a Friend” and within just days, you could

have a network of a thousand or more people to connect with – and you didn’t spend anything to get all of this to happen!

Are you getting all of this? Good because as we go forward, this is how you’re going to be building your business so you can forget about all the old stuff you’ve been taught. This is where we are today and it’s such a powerful transformation that almost overnight more than 200 MILLION people have set up accounts on Facebook.
